THE NEED
The Gulf Coast Intercollegiate Consortium (GCIC) Academic Symposium strives to explore an annual theme of debate on deep and enriching levels as students are invited to submit 150 to 300-word abstracts for review. 2024’s 10th annual event theme was “Preserving Pluralism.” Once complete, cover art would be included on event posters, programs and attendee badges.
MY APPROACH
Working closely with the directing professor, needs and expectations of the project were aligned. To truly create campaign visuals that spoke conceptually to the event theme, I spent time absorbing the call for entry theme description. In many ways, I approached this as a student would; embracing the theme, forming an opinion and then expressing that visually through design to represent the many facets of pluralism.
THE RESULT
The 2024 10th GCIC Academic Symposium at College of the Mainland marked the best-attended and most comprehensive interdepartmental collaboration to date with more challenges and presenters than ever before.
