THE NEED
College of the Mainland’s (COM) first annual Summer Nurse Camp, partnered with CompassRN, would be offering a three-day camp in July 2023 providing the opportunity for local area high school students to learn about the various components of a nursing career through hands-on activities and demonstrations taught by COM faculty. Brand identity, badge identification, custom certificates, signage and presentation templates were some of the marketing materials needed.

MY APPROACH
Working closely with the Nursing director, college faculty, staff and camp partnerships, messaging was conceptualized for t-shirts and other collateral. The camp brand identity established an inspirational message of “Future Nurse” instilling confidence in each student who wore it. The logo design integrated a stethoscope in a playful manner while creating an overall medical aesthetic with color and typography. The college logo and CompassRN partnership logo were required additions to the brand identity.

THE RESULT
The first annual nurse camp was very successful as a result of strong collaboration between multiple teams and partnerships. Activities included CPR demonstration, a nutritional escape room, infant/toddler/elder safety and an Anatomage Table [3D anatomy visualization and virtual dissection model] tournament. Though only three days, the nurse camp was able to achieve its goal of introducing high school students to the nursing field and exploring the possibilities from higher education.

MY ROLE
Design strategy, brand identity, typography, graphic design and layout, project management
