Wall Murals: New Administration Building
College of the Mainland’s new Administration Building needed 6 engaging large-scale wall murals to not only designate each respective department, but also convey the heart of the college’s spirit. Wall areas were 7ft tall and ranged from 11 feet to over 21 feet long.
Working with executive leadership, the direction of each mural was discussed to illustrate reflections of success and how to best capture the college spirit. I conceptualized ideas for each wall where designs would compliment the existing space and the interior architecture while providing unique wayfinding cues. Imagery included student photos, programs and activities, various elements of campus architecture and simplistic motivational phrases.
The wall murals received praise for successfully identifying each administrative department, beautifying and enhancing the experience of the space, reflecting the positive culture of COM and engaging students and visitors as they navigated the building.
